RELIGION

Updated: Feb 6

There are 4200 forms of religions in the world according to goggle. It might be logical to assume that the existence of a vast varieties of religion should mean there are over 4200 gods, but they are actually 4200 definition of the deiform of the Idea God or gods ( and that's all it is "an idea). 4200 ideas or versions of divinity also proves that nobody actually knows what or who God is, we are basically just making things up as we go. Think about it, at a time in human history RA was the ultimate god because the Egyptian civilization was the most powerful, then the Sumerians had AN and Vikings had Odin and so on , the idea of god/God is ultimate if it adheres directly to power, the high priests of the god Ra or Odin are usually as powerful as a king because the kings or emperors cannot ignore their supposedly divine authority, but in a way these old religions including ancient African religions did not quench the idea of freewill, I mean they made rules but these rules were prone to change, sometimes daily. Consider ancient Rome for example, before Christianity, it was a barbaric form of a civilized society.

Like every form of religion before Christianity or Islam , these religions totally absorb and control if not directly the notion or idea of power through authority within the areas they clenched, these religions systematically removed the idea of freewill/freedom and fuel their idea of power through authority. These made it different from the rest of the old religions. Jesus might as well be regarded as the Karl Marx of Christianity and Muhammad the same for Islam, their ideas were raw, different and it built empires and nations because it requires total submission. Originally, the bible was just series of scattered scrolls written by men, some of whom spent years in social isolation but somehow believed they should dictate how the human society should be coordinated, the scrolls were then hand picked by the Roman catholic church then presented as the bible I.e the roman catholic church decided which version of the so called words of God they wanted the public to read and digest.

Again, Islam and Christianity engulfed and removed the idea of freedom. the first notable set of rules are the ten commandments. In my opinion, Moses probably smoked some opium before he wrote that shit down, it wasn't written by God, it definitely didn't fall out of the earth. Frankly, some of the laws in the commandments seemed like it was directed towards certain situations, for example; thou shall not commit adultery seems like a perfect social birth control measure. Another example; thou shall not covet thy neighbour's wife , sounds like someone smashed someone's wife prior the introduction of the commandments. Some of the commandments are obviously sensible in a socio-political sense for example ; the law against killing and stealing , but there are clear loopholes which unfortunately is the foundation of our contemporary society.

In the case of Africa, foreign religion totally fucked our society up. Africans can call themselves Muslims or Christians but the truth is we had to become either Christians or Muslims. Centuries before the Europeans came to Africa, the Arabs had normalize the sale of African slaves and most Northern Africans had submitted to the religious ideas of their masters. The Roman Empire was so vast and powerful it had conquered almost every known sovereignty in the ancient world all the way to North Africa, so when the Roman empire collapsed and it started to lose her territories, the Ottoman took Constantinople (Istanbul) from the Romans and in turn inherited North Africa as well, Ottoman's were majorly muslims and Islam became the religion of the Ottoman's colonies in Africa, along with the Arab's Afro slave trade in Africa. European Afro slave trade is the most popular event in modern history there is no need to break it down but I will like to state that; I was born a Christian because someone on my family tree became a Christian to stay alive or because it became an enforced social trend and this goes for Afro-Muslims as well.

In conclusion, I know we cannot compare the complexity of the African society of the 16th or 17th centuries to modern Socio-political Africa, but one thing is clear ; we are where we are today because we allowed ourselves to bend tothe will of foreigners and foreign religions, we are where we are because our ancestors were ignorant enough to let power and wealth provoke them to sell other Africans to white slave merchants. Of course we can't disregard the fact that some of the sold slaves were prisoners of war, offenders and so on, but we also can't disregard the fact that the Arabs or the Europeans did not sell Arabian or European war prisoners to Africans. Ancient Africans were just too ignorant and extremely greedy, especially the Yoruba Elites. The world would be a better place if ancient Africans took a different approach to their idea of diplomacy with the Europeans.
