I once referred to myself as a fan of democracy, I made this statement not based on my view of democracy but my sentiment for the most popular factor in every politic culture around the world. I have also referred to democracy as a mechanism used to create the illusion that the majority have their hands on the wheel (get to choose their own government), this might look or sound like a conspiracy theory depending on your side of the fence.
History, though so much of it has been fiddled with in some ways it still holds on concentrate proof that the majority as never actually been directly or totally in charge of who they follow and power as always been centralized within the minority. History also left concrete details relating to the failure of different forms of governing systems, it would seem that the human race adapts a new system a while after the old system stops working but this changes has always been provoked or rather instigated by the minority demography and the majority are just lugubrious puns in their own reality.
The Glorious Revolution of 1688 was one of the biggest steps taken by mankind on the quest of self-governance, over several centuries it has been followed by multiple collapses of Monarchs around the world, since that period of the human history we have also seen, dissected and adopted different political theories. Authoritarianism gradually became repulsive hence the Democratic system of government or as I like to call it "a system of loopholes" .Socrates shared his view on democracy in his knowledge and ignorance thesis (theory). Currently, I view the Democratic system to be incompetent though it is the system that produced leaders like Obama, Mandela, Ardern, Macron it is also the system that paved the way for the likes of Trump, Buhari, Aung Sun, Mbasogo, Al- Bashir.
Authoritarian systems are extremely out of the question but if democracy was an unadulterated system it isn’t anymore, just like every form of social, cultural and historical entities, the time has been unfaithful it. In my opinion just like the Glorious Revolution, it is time for mankind to progress towards a system of government that aligns with the troubles of our time. A system that provides needs and not wants, a system that is extremely focused on educating its voters on proper governance, a system that keen on widening the horizon(scope) of every individual no matter the social demography, a system focused on the earth, a system focused on improvement and not re-election.
